All designs start with a mark or two on a piece of paper. A simple point, an accidental dot, a mark.

I made this ring having simplicity in my mind. I had two small round pieces. One was like a cup and the other like a disc. Although the design looks very basic it took me a lot of weeks to put the pieces together.

I used a piece of silver wire and soldered the two rounds on the two ends. And I then I was looking at them. The disc wanted to cover the cup, maybe.

Anyway, I decided to drill the disc. It looked more friendly to the cup. And then finished the ring and dived it into black.

“Mark” ring is a statement of simplicity and minimalism. Two round shapes engaged. Together and apart as well.

The “Polygon” jewelry project is a study on geometry. It started years ago with an experimental ring made during silversmith classes. The educational purpose of this design was to learn how to use files on hard waxes and to deal with the edges created among flat surfaces.

This first ring was impressive and had a beautiful form. I worked further with it and managed to solve the functionality problems. The design is now ready and the result is very satisfying. The whole collection has the same polygonal pattern.

There is also a small edition of the “Polygon” ring that is a thin band.

The “Grid” is the essential element of architecture. It shows the structure, the use and the rythm of the design. For an architect the grid is something necessary. It hepls to organize your thoughts and make the idea real.

The piece is made by drawing lines with melted wax on a special surface. The procedure takes time and needs a lot of attention to every detail in order not to break. The pieces are made by using the lost wax technique.

“Tangled” project was inspired by the sequence of number 2 as seen on 2022. The jewelry pieces are the lucky charm of year 2022.

We are already counting two years of pandemic and everyone of us is confused and has mixed feelings about life and the future. So I tried to visualize this tangled situation by seeing the number 2022 as a doodle with many curves. This doodle can transform into many curvy shapes that look like tangled strings. Check the animation that I created describing the whole idea behind this design.

The “Fruits” project is part of the “Imaginary Nature” collection. The project is named “Fruits” because the items look like small raspberries. Nature is again the inspiration behind these jewelry pieces. Flowers, leaves and fruits. The flowers that turn into fruits with the most exquisite shapes. The shape of these jewelry pieces is inspired by berries because of their beautiful form and the distinctive tiny pips on their skin. All pieces have the maker’s personal touch and imagination.

The “Fruits” are made with the granulation technique. Because of their special design those pieces are made individually and every single one is unique.

All of them come with oxidization in order to make the dots stand out.

The “Leaves” project is part of the “Imaginary Nature” jewelry collection. The jewelry designs draw inspiration from fresh flower leaves or the remains of dry leaves. Because of the great variety of leaves found in nature there are a lot of shapes one can imagine. The designs are basically abstract and minimalistic with a great influence from greek tradition. All the pieces are original designs of Katerina Glinou and handmade by her with persistence and very careful work.

The collection consists of minimalist necklaces, earrings and rings. Earrings and rings are products of metalwork. Necklace elements are handmade with wax and casted into sterling silver or bronze by using the lost wax technique.
