Hello everybody and welcome to my website and my blog “Inspiration”. My name is Katerina and I am a Greek architect, urban planner, designer, jewelry maker and photographer. Also a mom of two plus a cat, wife of another architect and photographer, traveller, dreamer, chocolate addict and yoga lover. This website was my secret dream and I am very happy that it is ready and I have a nice online portfolio of my works. This first blog post is dedicated to my childhood artistic creations. Because I was into this art thing since I was a kid and that kept me happy during difficult times. There are going to be more “historical” articles in the future.

I don’t really remember when I started making objects with my own hands. I think it was somewhere in the 80s when I was around 10. Until that age I was drawing and painting like crazy and there was always a drawing sheet underneath my homework books. One summer my mom got me some polymer clay sticks and a book of instructions and ideas. So I started making objects for my dollhouse, basically tiny bowls, cups and dishes. I remember that inside that book there were pictures of animals made with polymer clay. Since it was summer and I was inspired by sea life I decided to make fish. I added as many details as a little child could handle and finished my projects with great content! I don’t recall the amount of fish created during that vacation. I know that I gave away a lot to friends and family since everybody had to support the little artist. I kept two of them and made pendant necklaces that I was very proud to wear until my teenage years and maybe more.

Later, when I was around 12 or more, it was the summer of “macramé madness”. Everybody was making these “Indian bracelets” as we used to call them. All kids were consuming meters of DMC thread. Every afternoon we had “macramé” sessions in my summer house and exchanging ideas and color combinations. We were making one after the other and gifting them to our friends as a symbol of friendship. I don’t know if we were the inventors of the “friendship bracelet” but surely we had a great time back then. Please notice that there was no youtube and we were teaching stuff to each other. This was a wonderful procedure and I really miss it. I still have a dozen of these bracelets. My daughter wears them now and I am so happy for that.
